SMSU speech tournament CANCELLED

From Minneota Speech Coach Kim Gades, "SMSU has cancelled their speech meet their speech meet that was scheduled for tomorrow due to the impending snow. No meet tomorrow, Saturday, March 24. Please use this time to finalize scripts, practice, or research."

From the tournament committe, “Good afternoon everyone. The most recent forecast has moved the bulls-eye of the storm over Marshall and suggests that it won't stop snowing here until around 10 a.m."

"In light of this and in order to ensure the safety of students, we have decided to cancel the speech tournament for tomorrow. We explored going on with the event using a later start time but there were some logistic issues with that."

"All the events on our campus have been cancelled for tomorrow and snow removal was going to be an additional issue to resolve. No one is more disappointed than we are that we can't make this work out. I believe this is only the second time in 19 years of hosting this tournament that I've had to cancel so I suppose one could say that the odds were not in our favor."

"We wish you all the best at subsections and look forward to seeing many of you at the Section IIIA tournament here on April 14. Take care and stay safe!”

The Minneota Speech team is hosting their annual, "Speech & Sweets" event at the high school on Monday, April 2. The public is invited to attend.

There next meet will be on April 7 at the sub-section contest.
