Swedzinski: Four local cities receive state awards
State Rep. Chris Swedzinski (R-Ghent) announces four cities in District 15A are receiving state funding totaling more than $2.8 million combined to fund local projects.
The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development issued the awards through the Small Cities Development Program and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Canby, Hanley Falls, Russell and Tracy each are receiving funds.
DEED indicated the awards will fund the following projects:
City of Canby, nearly $1.1 million for owner-occupied housing rehabilitation (18 homes) and commercial rehabilitation (12 buildings)
City of Hanley Falls, $600,000 for public facility improvements – water distribution lines
City of Russell, $600,000 for public facility improvements – water distribution lines
City of Tracy, $600,000 for public facility improvements – water plant rehabilitation
“Congratulations to the people in each of these cities and to the local officials who successfully applied for these awards to support important local infrastructure projects,” Swedzinski said. “Each of these awards are examples of how civic entities can partner with the state to complete projects while sparing local taxpayer costs. I look forward to seeing this work getting done in Canby, Hanley Falls, Russell and Tracy.”
