Rumors cleared up during Minneota Creamery meeting
Peace and harmony prevailed at the annual meeting of the stockholders of the Minneota Cooperative Creamery last Saturday at City Hall, contrary to what was expected. When the meeting was called to order by the president, B.E. Nelson, City Hall was filled to the doors. The exceptional attendance was due to the fact that there had been much talk about the trouble that would be started by some people who wanted to see a change in butter makers, so many people came to the meeting to "see the fur fly." But all such talk was doomed as there was no trouble of any kind and the whole session was marked with nothing but the most peaceful attitude. Every debt is paid and all of the property is free from encumbrance, and the creamery has $4,896.94 cash on hand. The creamery has never been in better shape and patrons are well satisfied.
Teigland's mill ready to start operating; public is invited
Jake Teigland told the Mascot that his mill will be ready for business today. It is located in the Bingham Elevator building and Teigland invites the public to come and inspect it. He will turn out graham flour, pancake flour, several kinds of breakfast foods, and more.
Johnson expected to regain use of hand following accident
Several Minneotans drove out to the home of John S. Johnson of Limestone Township last Friday evening to attend a party given to him by friends. Mr. Johnson recently returned from Rochester where he had been since last fall under medical treatment. He got his hand badly lacerated in a corn picker last fall and a hard fight and prolonged effort to save it had been put up. We understand it is expected that he will regain use of his hand, but not for some time.

Village of Minneota may be served by star mail route
Although John J. Jaschke, local acting postmaster hadn't received any information about it up to Wednesday morning, Minneota may be one of the towns served by a mail star route. The service between Marshall and Canby would be in conduction with a route between Marshall and Clarkfield. The mail would leave Marshall daily, except Sundays and holidays, at 12:30 p.m., and arrive in Clarkfield 45 minutes later. The driver would leave Clarkfield at 1:20 p.m. and be back in Marshall 45 minutes later. He would then leave for Canby at 2:20 p.m., arriving here at 3:50 p.m. He would start back at 4 p.m. and return to Marshall at 5:30 p.m.
Finnegan Brothers Market tohold grand opening Saturday
Finnegan Brothers' Market in Minneota will stage the grand opening of its grocery department on Saturday. Finnegan's Market has installed a complete grocery department in its store, and will sponsor the sale of the "U-Save" line of groceries. The market will also engage in the sale of fruits and vegetables and will continue to specialize in the sale of quality meats. Free roses will be presented to all women shoppers and free balloons will be given to every child accompanied by an adult.
Minneota Cooperative Creamery earned over $11,000 in 1948
Stockholders of the Minneota Cooperative Creamery learned at a recent meeting that the creamery had earned $11,305.69 during 1948 when financial statements were handed out. This money will not be turned over to stockholders, however, but will be set up in equity reserves. What stockholders will receive this year will be six percent interest on their stock and $5,052.03 set aside in 1946 as equity reserve to be paid out this year.

Hemnes minister resigns pastorate; leaving March 1
Rev. Lloyd C. Kallevig, pastor of Hemnes Lutheran congregation since January of 1963, has resigned his pastorate and will leave the local church on March 1. The Hemnes minister has been serving congregations in Hendricks and Marble in Lincoln County, as well as Hemnes, and is resigning from his position of the Minneota church only. Rev. Kallevig was elected to the office of the president of the Marshall conference of the Southwestern Minnesota District of the American Lutheran Church on Feb. 12.
Larson becomes Eagle Scout; Honor Court Thursday evening
Brent Larson, the son of Superintendent and Mrs. Ralph Larson, will be sworn in as an Eagle Scout during Honor Court Thursday evening at 8 p.m. at the Minneota High School. Dr. C.E. Eastwold, who was a Scoutmaster for many years in this community, will be the featured speaker during the program.
MGT Cooperative Oil Co. re-names two directors
Two directors of the Minneota-Ghent-Taunton Cooperative Oil Company were re-elected by stockholders of the concern at the annual meeting held Tuesday afternoon and the board re-named its officers when it met a short time later for the purpose of organizing. The two directors were Paul Myrvik and Walter Gillund. The board now consists of Donald Boerboom, president; Albert Borson, vice president; Norbert Lanners, secretary-treasurer; and Myrvik and Gillund.

Coequyt named director of Meals-on-the-Move
Marie Coequyt has assumed the duties as the Minneota Meals-on-the-Move coordinator as of Jan. 1, 1999. She will now coordinate the involvement of the local churches in the delivery of the meals, and help the clients with problems they have in delivery of the meals themselves. This service is provided through the Minneota Manor.
Kindergarten question is main topic at school board meeting
The question of whether the kindergarten program should be expanded to four full days, five full days with two classes, or leave it "as is" with three-day classes was the main topic of discussion at last Thursday evening's school board meeting. Elementary Principal Brian Miller said that he recommends the five-day schedule, but that questionnaires sent out to parents showed they preferred the four-day schedule. Three votes were taken and each one ended in a tie, so the board decided to leave the three-day schedule installed for now.
Five individuals qualify for state wrestling tournament
Minneota will be represented by five wrestlers in the State Individual Wrestling Tournament. Josh Sanow at 171 pounds, James Miller at 140 and Matt Coequyt at 152 all placed first in their respective weight class at the section meet this past weekend, while Mike Coequyt at heavyweight and Ryan Fier at 145 each placed second. Minneota has also qualified for the State Team Tournament.
