Vikings coast in Holiday Classic

Minneota scored the first 18 points of the game and went on to trounce Wabasso 54-24 on the first day of the two-day Southwest Minnesota State University Holiday Classic on Tuesday night.
Despite playing a little over half the game because of the lopsided score, McKenna Yost sank four 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points for the Vikings (9-0). Natalee Rolbiecki delivered 16 points.
Rolbiecki, who has scored in double figures in all nine games this season, passed Jami Rolbiecki and moved into eighth place on the school's all-time scoring list for girls' basketball with 1,282 points. Yost has scored in double figures in eight of the nine contests. She had nine points in the other game.
Nine players scored for the Vikings.
The Rabbits didn't score until a bank shot by Kelsey Frank with 9:30 left in the first half.
The second half was played on a much slower pace by the Vikings, who outscored Wabasso 20-17 after outscoring them 34-7 in the first half.
Bella Brand led Wabasso with seven points. Frank had six points.
Minneota takes on Sleepy Eye at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the second round of the SMSU Holiday Classic.
