Local creamery on a record-breaking run
For the months of June and July, the local creamery has been making a record-breaking run. G.W. Simes, the manager, said that he has taken in 5,000 cans of cream or about 250,000 pounds. This represents about 77,500 pounds of butter fat from which there have been manufactured nearly 100,000 pounds of butter. This is an exceptional record and is a great credit to the new manager of the creamery.

School buses to cover four routes next term
With the opening of school just a little more than three weeks away, Diedrich G. Peters, superintendent of school, outlined the routes that buses will take during the coming year. Instead of three routes as last year, there will be four making the trips each day. Peters said that he knew some of the roads might be difficult this fall and next spring, but hoped that some of them would receive attention this summer or autumn. He said that school clerks in the rural districts have all received notices as to what routes the buses will take in their districts.

Taunton may have a second liquor store
Taunton may have a second liquor store as a result of action taken by the Village Council at a meeting last Friday evening. Village fathers there voted to issue a second license to John Kloos if approval is obtained from the state liquor commission. Taunton's present liquor store is operated by F.E. Donaldson, who has been in business there for three years. Kloos would open his establishment in the Gruhot building next to Beck Hardware. The Taunton council also voted to rebuild sidewalks and curbs in the business district and engage the services of County Engineer Bussard to make a survey and prepare specifications. If present plans in Taunton mature, streets in the business district may be coated with tarvia next summer.

Local fishermen catch 451 pounds of fish from Canada
Four men from Minneota took a trip to Lake Nipigon in Canada last week and brought home 451 pounds of walleyes and northerns after they were dressed. Hilmer Anderson, Al Kiley, Ben Borson and Joe Josefson were the proud anglers. The fish were hung in Finnegan Brothers market and attracted scores of visitors to the store to admire them. Those that saw the fish could only imagine the thrill that must have come with landing them all.

Council decides to delay hike in garbage pickup rate
Minneota residents received a reprieve in the raise of garbage rates on Monday evening when the Village Council discussed a raise in hauling rates briefly but decided to delay any positive action until all members were present and a cost and profit and loss statement could be prepared. Raising rates, however, is forthcoming to people who live in this village because of the Board of County Commissioners granting a raise in rates to landfill owners, where local garbage is hauled, some weeks ago.
