Junior linebacker Parker Bradley (51) of Minneota closes in on a Lakeview ball carrier Friday night in the Vikings’ 63-8 Homecoming win.

VIKINGS NOTCH ROUT ON HOMECOMING

Meagher runs for 212 yards, 4 TDs against Lakers; Dalager tosses 2 TD passes in 63-8 win

Minneota flexed its muscle on both sides of the ball Friday night, amassing 534 total while limiting Lakeview to just four first downs en route to a 63-8 Homecoming rout Friday night at K.P. Kompelien Field.
Ryan Meagher ran for 212 yards and four touchdowns in only 10 carries to ignite the top-ranked Vikings (6-0).
Despite temperatures dipping into the low 40s, the Vikings stayed hot throughout the game, scoring in every quarter.
Prior to the game, which was designated as "Intercept Cancer", three Minneota staff members battling cancer - Sharon Fox, Lisa Hart and Sue Buysse - were designated as honorary captains and participated in the coin toss.
Homecoming Queen Grace Hennen, King Max Rost, Princess Ella Johnson, and Prince Joe Voit, who were all crowned Monday afternoon at a coronation ceremony, were recognized at halftime along with the other candidates, attendants and crown bearers. Hennen and Johnson were unable to be present as they were playing volleyball in Burnsville, as were queen candidates Faith Myhre, Dakoda Hennen and Kenadi Arndt.
Meagher scored on runs of 73, 27, 9 and 14 yards, all in the first half. The junior running back entered the game averaging over 10 yards per carry this season and averaged 19.5 yards per carry in this contest.
Destin Fier scored twice, the first on a run of 38 yards in the second quarter, and the other from three yards out in the fourth quarter. He finished with 83 yards in six carries, a 13.8 average per carry.
Ryan Dalager threw touchdown passes of 46 yards to Max Rost in the opening quarter and 41 yards to Sawyer DeSmet in the second quarter. The senior signal-caller completed 9 of 14 passes for 212 yards and no interceptions.
Lakeview (1-5) averted the shutout with 1:11 remaining in the game when Tucker Fiene scored on an 11-yard run. The Lakers also added a two-point conversion.
The game between the neighboring rivals was marred by several penalties. The teams combined for 16 penalties.
The Vikings reached the end zone three times in the opening quarter on two runs by Meagher and the Rost TD catch. The Vikings added four more touchdowns in the second stanza on two more Meagher runs, the 38-yard scoring run by Fier, and the Dalager-to-Desmet scoring strike.
Lucas Rybinski scored in the third quarter on a seven-yard run, and Fier added his second TD to cap the scoring in the final quarter.
Lakeview was held to only 27 yards on the ground and 82 total yards. Eli Gruenes led the Minneota defense with nine total tackles, including two for a loss. Parker Bradley had eight stops. Bradley, Desmet and Peyton Sheik each had a sack. Sheik also recovered a fumble.
