MINNEOTA PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS
Are you ready to read 12 books before the end of March? There is still time to sign up for our Winter Reading Program.
When we have to endure the below temperatures and dark days, there is nothing better than to cozy up with a good book. If you're someone who prefers to read books online, cozy up with your Kindle, Nook or other reading device. If you're one who likes to multi-task, downloading an audio book on the Libby or Hoopla phone apps is your best bet.
I tend to use all three methods – physical books, eBooks and audio books. I listen to audio books if I'm cooking, doing dishes or mowing the lawn. I also like to listen when I put together a jigsaw puzzle. I imagine someone who knits or crochets may listen to a book while doing those hobbies. If I were to polish silver, I'd listen during that task, however, there's not much call for polishing silverware or jewelry at my house.
If you are unsure about the online services we offer and want to start using the digital resources available, come in and we'll explain how it works.
We've recently added a "comment page" to our newer books. A Post-it note for leaving comments about your reflections on a book is inside the front cover of the book. If you want to rate a book using 1-5 stars, you can do that online. Log into our webpage, create an account, and rate the books you've read. Creating an account with the library allows you to search the catalog of all the books in the Plum Creek Library System. In addition to seeing which books are available, you are able to put a hold on the book. The next available edition will be shipped to the Minneota Library just for you.
Plum Creek Library System is turning 50 this year. As part of the 50th anniversary celebration, we invite our patrons to share their love for the library. We want to hear the stories and experiences that make our libraries special. Pick up a "Love My Library" card at the front desk. Fill out the card and bring it back, and we will send it on to the Plum Creek Director, Elizabeth Hoffman.
Hoffman says, "Every time a patron submits a card, they will be entered into a prize drawing for delicious treats from local vendors and exclusive Plum Creek branded items."
The Love My Library program runs from Feb. 1-29, and prize winners will be announced on March 14.
NOTICE: Due to expiring terms, the library board is in need of two more board members. If interested in being on the library board of directors, please stop by the library to pick up a form.
