Local Democrats to host annual corn feed Aug. 7

t’s billed as the 18th annual Corn Feed, but its origins go back much farther. The original Steak and Corn Feed was begun in the 1960s by the late Bob Starr at his Cedar Rock Ranch in rural Delhi. Starr was a pillar of Redwood County until his death in 2012, active in a host of agricultural, political, educational, and business organizations.
Throughout the decades, the goals of the Corn Feed remain the same: local Democrats coming together to meet state officials and political candidates to make sure they are aware of the concerns of rural Minnesotans and the farm economy.
This year’s Corn Feed will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, at Ramsey/Cansayapi Park in Redwood Falls. A host of distinguished speakers are expected, including U.S. Senator Tina Smith, Governor Tim Walz, and Minnesota DFL Chair Ken Martin. AJ Peters, DFL Candidate for US House of Representatives (District 7), as well as two Minnesota House Candidates, Tom Kuster (District 15B) and Anthony Studemann (District 15A) will also be in attendance.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m.; meal service begins at 5 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by a southern Minnesota band The Mad Hatters.
