GAUL TO PRESENT "THE ROAD TO 1776" AT LCHS ANNUAL MEETING
The Lyon County Historical Society's annual meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 9 at the Lyon County Historical Museum in Marshall.
The program begins at 5:30 p.m. with annual meeting and 2025 annual report beginning at 6 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., Dr. Anita Talsma Gaul will present "The Road to 1776."
Gaul's program will be in conjunction with this year's 150th anniversary of American Independence.
At the conclusion of the Seven Years' War in 1763, Great Britain and the American colonies were on the best terms. The war had strengthened their common identity and solidified the bonds of empire. Yet at the same time, the war also planted the seeds of mutual misunderstanding and suspicion. Just 13 years later, in 1776, the American colonists declared their independence from Great Britain, signaling their intent to permanently break the political bonds between them. What caused the relationship between Great Britain and its American colonies to collapse so rapidly?

EASTER EGG SCAVENGER HUNT APRIL 2-4
Visit the Lyon County Museum on April 2-4 to complete an Easter Egg and Bunny Scavenger Hunt! After counting eggs and bunnies in the exhibit galleries, the completed scavenger hunt form can be turned in at the front desk for a treat.
Museum hours are Monday-Friday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday: 12-4 p.m.

GENEALOGY CLUB SET FOR APRIL 7
The next Genealogy Club meeting at the Lyon County Museum is at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7. Note there is a change in date in that the April meeting will not be held on Monday, April 6 but rather on Tuesday, April 7. The Genealogy Club is open to anyone interested in learning more about doing family history and visiting with others. Light refreshments will be served.

VETERANS COFFEE HELD ON APRIL 7
The next monthly Veterans Coffee at the Lyon County Museum will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7. The monthly coffee is the first Tuesday of the month and is open to all veterans. Enjoy coffee, water, juice, and treats while visiting with fellow veterans in the ice cream shop at the museum.
