Have you seen those United Way Thermometers around? The models are my husband and two youngest children, personally I think they look awesome — but not perfect yet, because the red is not quite to the 100 percent.

The United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN) is reaching the end of its yearly campaign. The goal of the campaign this year is $600,000 which is an increase of $30,000 over last year’s goal.

Currently, the campaign stands at 93.5 percent or $561,284.12 and we are asking for your help to help us meet our goal. Your donation, big or small, will make a local difference.

My family and I have been active in the UWSWMN, because what is raised local stays local.

As a Marshall business owner, mother of small children, and a resident of Minneota investing in the UWSWMN just makes sense.

Our United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in every community and its mission is to “Unite people and resources to improve lives and strengthen communities in Southwest Minnesota” with a focus on health, education, financial stability, hunger, safety and well-being.

Over the last 15 years, the UWSWMN has invested more than $5.9 million dollars throughout our region through grants, programming and partnerships.

The UWSWMN service territory includes the following counties: Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Yellow Medicine and portions of Cottonwood, Lac qui Parle, Nobles and Redwood.

The annual campaign ends on January 31, 2018 and as mentioned; we are currently short of meeting our goal for this campaign year.
