Ole Pappy
I was laying in bed the other night and couldn’t sleep so I began to think about my favorite actor and I tried to recall as many of his movies as I could. I got a few, but it dogged me the next day so I looked it up.

Of-course, the actor was John Wayne. A couple of years ago my wife and I and a couple of friends took a trip to Branson, MO.
On the way we stopped in Winterset, IA, childhood home of Marion Mitchell Morrison, son of the local pharmacist. Hard to believe John Wayne’s real name was, “Marion.” Anyway, we visited his home and they said a new Museum dedicated to John Wayne was being constructed just a few blocks away — in Winterset.
Not long ago I got a notice that the museum was now complete and the life of John Wayne is portrayed there. I really want to see that some day. In Winterset, I bought a book that was a story of John Wayne’s life.
It was fascinating. And it said he was such a fanatic “Patriot” that Russians once tried to assassinate him. I only bring this up because John Wayne was such an iconic figure and part of most of our lives as we were growing up. By-the-way, while in Winterset, we toured, seven covered bridges that were part of the movie, “The Bridges of Madison County.”
LAUGH A LITTLE: Old way still the best! The father asked his daughter if she’d seen his newspaper. The daughter told her father that newspapers are old school. Then she said people using “tablets” nowadays and handed him her iPad.
The father took it. The fly didn’t stand a chance.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: As my Ole Pappy used to say, “Life isn’t as complex as you think. Just follow these three principals: 1. Hope, 2. Pray, 3. Don’t worry.” He simplified life — but he was right. It works! Thanks Ole Pappy!
