On Tuesday farmers tried to get into the field. This one planting was on the Moorse farm just southwest of Minneota.

Farmers trying to get into the field

Minneota area farmers began to take to the fields on Tuesday as the current warm weather, sunshine and winds have begun to dry out the heavily saturated fields.
“It’s been a tough decision to make,” said Lyon County Commissioner Gary Crowley, who farms near Ghent.
He indicated he probably wasn’t going to see corn in his fields this summer.
Many other farmers are talking with their insurance agents to determine what they should do.
Others indicated they will plant soybeans but not corn this year.
“Every one is different and will have to make their own decisions,” said another area farmer.
This week is likely to be the turning point for most farmers.
