Lucian Krohling

Lucian Ray Krohling was born May 6, 1947 in Marshall, MN and lived with his parents, Leon and and Vivian Krohling, in Minneota during his early childhood.
His family later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in California where he attended school and graduated from Carlmont High School in Belmont, California in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school and fought front-line combat in Vietnam with the rank of Sergeant from September 1965–October 1968, in Delta Company, 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, part of the 25th Infantry Division, nicknamed the Wolfhounds. He also served a full tour in Korea prior to being deployed to Vietnam. He is a Bronze Star decorated veteran.
Upon his return from Vietnam, Lucian attended Southwest State University in Marshall. While living back in the Minneota area, he found his life career in law enforcement, beginning as a peace officer in Minneota and later a Blue Earth County Sheriff's Deputy. He graduated from the FBI Academy in 1989. He retired from law enforcement as a police commander for Blue Earth County.
Lucian was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Stephanie (Gilberts); sister Gail (Spanton) Williams; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Hermel; cousins; aunts; and uncles.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Warner of North Mankato; son, Ben Krohling of Minneapolis: daughter, Emily Maas and her husband Nate, their four children, Sabella, Sofia, Carlin, and Nova Maas of Owatonna; brother, Curtis Spanton and his wife Carol of Eugene, Oregon; as well as multiple cousins.
Memorial services were held on July 23, 2025 at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel, Mankato, MN, with interment at Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
