On the Bench with Byron Higgin

Volleyball can be a beautiful thing —especially when you have six parts all moving in synchronization.
That’s the way the Minneota volleyball team looked as they romped their way through the ABC Tournament in Burnsville last weekend and in the process defeated last year’s nemesis, Mayer Lutheran and laid claim to the No. 1 ranking in Division 1A.
WARS
Missed two of 12 last week.
Didn’t see Tracy-Milroy-Balaton beating Ortonville, which they did, 22-21. And Adrian pulled a little surprise, 23-14 over Sleepy Eye. Didn’t give the Vikings enough margin over Yellow Medicine East.
With this Jekyll-Hyde team that’s often injured, it’s hard to tell. Otherwise, got close on several games. Said 33-14, Canby over Lakeview and it was 28-14. Predicted Murray Co. Central 34-20 over New Ulm Cathedral and it was 32-7 and said Springfield would beat Wabasso 21-20 and it was 21-6.
So, with 26 of 32 correct in the first four weeks for 81 percent — here’s week No. 5. Toughest games might be undefeated Murray County Central and Dawson-Boyd; Yellow Medicine East vs. Lakeview and Marshall against a tough Waseca team.
