Big late rally wins for Vikings

Minneota trailed 7-3 to Adrian going into the seventh inning on Thursday.

But, has been the case so often this year, you never count out the Viking baseball team.

They rallied with a five-run rally to beat the Dragons, 8-7.

The clinching blow was a bases-loaded doubl by Austin Sorenson to send SamBuysse, then Landon Robiecki and finally Jaymes Moon across the plate with the winning run.

The rally started against Adrian pitcher Ian Stamer with a walk to Carter Schuelke. Thomas Hennen singled,Buysse was safe on an error, Teddy Pesch walked, Rolbiecki was safe when he forced Pesch out and Moon walked to set up the heroics for Sorenson.

Sorenson was on the mound when adrian scored two runs in the first inning and three more inthe third for a 5-0 lead.

They pushed the lead to 7-0 before the Vikings got on the board in the fourth. Three singles by Hennen, Buysse and Rolbiecki produced the first run. They got two more in the sixth on an error on a ball hit by Buysse plus singles from Pesch and Robiecki.

It was 7-3 and the lead seemed safe for Adrian — but of-course, in comic books, fantasy and sometimes even in real life, strange things happen, rallies begin and un-expected heroes emerged.

It did Thursday at Minneota.

The Vikings play at Slayton against Murray County Central tonight (Friday). They are 7-4 on the year.
