Alex Saltzer drove the lane against Lakeview's Colby Marczak.

Buzzer beater sinks Vikings

"We went over it in the huddle and they were shaking their heads like they understood," said Coach Dave Busselman.

Yet, when Lakeview came out of the huddle down 65-62 with five seconds to go, they got the ball down court and little-used defensive specialist Jackson Klocow threw up a shot, it whipped right through the basket and Lakeview had a buzzer-beating, 66-65 win.

"We had a hand on the ball," said Coach Busselman. "But it wasn't like we designed it," he said.

Klocow, i n the game for his defense and his speed, had just two three-pointers all night, for six points. But the game fell on him, and he responded.

"We wanted to keep the ball from coming out (from out of bounds), but we didn't do enough to carry it out," said the Minneota Coach.

He was frustrated all night long as the team basically depended on Logan Sussner to do all the work.

"Bascially Logan put us on his back all night long," said the coach. Sussner scored 32 points, including 18 of 24 free throws and grabbed 21 rebounds and was a force underneath the basket the Lakers couldn't deal with.

But nobody else got into double fibgures, with Braeden Panka scoring eight. "I thought Panka played a pretty good game," said the coach. But seniors Alex Saltzer scoring six and Nolan Boerboom four wasn't what the coach had in mind.

In Boerboom' defense, he did have eight rebounds and also had foul trouble with three fouls.

Junior Jacob Citterman secored seven with four rebounds, but got into foul trouble early, had to sit quite a bit, and eventually fouled out.

Minneota plays BOLD at 3:15 p.m. today (Saturday) at Hopkins Lindbergh in the Tip-Off Classic. The B squad plays at 12:45 p.m.
