Four wrestlers advance to state
Four Minneota wrestlers qualified for the Class A State Individual Wrestling Tournament after finishing in the top two in the Super Section tournament on Saturday. Advancing to Saturday's state competition will be Eric Carrasco at 120 pounds, Zack Fier at 145, Jonah Gruenes at 152, and Jackson Esping at 220.
Carrasco, Fier and Gruenes will be competing in the state tournament for the second straight year. This will be Esping's first state trip.
Because of COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, the section tournament included two section, 2A and 3A, with the top two advancing to a reduced eight-man state individual bracket as opposed to the normal 16.
The state individual tournament will be held at St. Michael-Albertville High School beginning at 2 p.m.
