Hennen lifts Mudhens with bat, arm
Danny Hennen had a Shohei Ohtani-like performance on Sunday, slugging a two-run homer at the plate while tossing a six-hit shutout on the mound as the Minneota Mudhens upended the Rosen Express 9-0 at K.P. Kompelien Field.
Hennen finished 3-for-5 at the plate, including his first-inning homer. The right-hander did not walk a batter and struck out six in his complete-game performance.
Tyson Sonnenburg belted a two-run homer in the first inning for Minneota and finished 2-for-3. Austin Buysse was 3-for-3, scored three times, and drove in one run. Peyton Gillund was 2-for-4 and an RBI. Gillund nearly had a home run, but it one-hopped the fence for a ground-rule double. AJ Myhre was also 2-for-4 and had a run-scoring triple.
The Mudhens (2-1 in the Land O' Ducks, 2-2 overall) amassed 15 hits in all against the Express. Austin DeVlaeminck, Alex Pohlen and Brock Buysse had one hit apiece.
"This was a good win to pick up for us," said Sonnenburg. "Defensively, everyone played really well and any time you can score nine runs, that's always a good thing."

Yankees walk past Mudhens
In a game played well over three hours, the Mudhens fell to the Milroy Yankees 13-8 in a non-league game that featured a total of 29 walks.
"This was probably the longest game played at 'The Komp' in a long time," said Minneota player/manager Tyson Sonnenburg. "Both teams were struggling to find the strike zone."
Minneota had just three hits in the game, singles by Alex Pohlen and Danny Hennen, and a double by Austin DeVlaeminck, but were issued 18 walks and a hit batter. Pohlen walked four times and Austin Buysse drew three free passes. Ten Minneota players drew at least one walk.
Milroy amassed 12 hits, drew 11 walks and had three batters hit by a pitch.
The Yankees scored five runs in the first inning and never trailed.
Jacob Hennen started for the Mudhens and weathered a rough first inning but otherwise pitched well. The Mudhens used four pitchers in all.
"It was a good non-league game for us to get in," Sonnenburg stated. "Everyone played at least half the game, so that was nice to give guys opportunities to play."
